I can say that I am likelier to have sugar maple than red or silver maple--and that is a lighter color, and harder, and the color is more uniform. JM

Either silver or red maple, this reversible cutting board is built to last. No seams, no glue--just beautifully figured maple wood from North Carolina. 2" thick and approximately 18" long. Weighs about 15 lbs. Could be refinished with sandpaper 3-5 times in its long life. 

Though shipping will cost a bit, it will last you a lifetime with proper care!
