About Jason's Wood Creations

Jason spends about 25 hours a week making wood art. He has surpassed the 700-hour mark, meaning he is no longer a “beginner”! Though there have been some cut fingers and the usual aching back, making things people will really appreciate is why he doesn't spend his time playing golf or traveling in his semi-retirement.

Jason's woodwork is also for sale in two arts and crafts galleries and in one antique store in the Greater Asheville, NC area. He also attends a local farmer's market on Saturday mornings. The day that he sold twelve clocks and eighteen cutting boards/charcuterie boards to Seven Sisters Craft Gallery ranks as one of the happiest moments of his life!

Jason most enjoys making cutting boards/charcuterie boards, clocks, tables, hiking sticks, picture frames, and knives. He utilizes both foreign and domestic woods, and loves delving into new arenas. He occasionally makes pure “art”—with no particular function but beauty— as well.

When he isn't woodworking, Jason enjoys hiking, movies, photography, reading, and his two dogs. He has been married to his wife, Angela, who does facials for a living, for twelve years. Jason has been working now for about 35 years, but with his work life mostly in retirement mode, he fulfills his creative needs with photography, writing, blogging, taking classes online, and going to the dog park with Hannah.
