Limba Heartwood Picture Frame #12
Limba Heartwood Picture Frame #12
The wood that this frame is made from is limba heartwood, which is an African wood that is obviously very beautiful. The four joints are not the usual "45-degree mitered joints" but instead one called a "half-lap joint." Basically you carefully remove 50% of the wood from one piece's corner, and half of the wood from another piece's corner. When they are fitted together, they essentially form 100% but at a 90-degree angle. If that makes sense!
This fits a 4x6 photograph. This comes with a photo of a rose.
It is meant to hang on a wall using either the horizontal or the vertical hanger (and a nail you provide). However, there is a removable oak thing that allows the frame to sit on a desk, shelf, or other horizontal surface. It is removed by unscrewing the screws.
There is one minor issue and that is the fact that the space for the photo is about 4.1" by 6", and therefore you can see a little of the plexiglass behind the photo. The issue is that if you were to use a 4.0x6.0 photo which was light in color, you might see the dark backing showing through. Thus I used a photo that had some darkness to it. Or you could add a piece of paper between the photo and the backing that is the same color as the borders of the photo, thereby making the little space invisible.
If this issue doesn't bother you, the attractive price should compensate for it.
Feel free to insert a piece of glass if you don't favor plexiglass, but that is much better for shipping. If all you do is dust or clean it every month or two, it should stay scratch-free for a very long time.
Also comes in 5x7, 8x10, and 11x14 (with a matte included). Simply be in touch if you wish to have a different size frame.
