The wood that this frame is made from is limba heartwood, which is an African wood that is obviously very beautiful. The four joints are not the usual "45-degree mitered joints" but instead one called a "half-lap joint." Basically you carefully remove 50% of the wood from one piece's corner, and half of the wood from another piece's corner. When they are fitted together, they essentially form 100% but at a 90-degree angle. If that makes sense!
This fits an approximately 6"x6" photograph (it's a little greater than 6.0" is what I mean). This comes with a photo of a valley with clouds socked in I took in 2023.
The way you would adapt your photograph for a frame that is an unusual size such as this is to print an 8x10 photo, then take the piece of plexiglass out of the frame, place that over the part of your photo you wish to display, trace it with a pen, and then cut it out. It should be a perfect fit. That is what I did with this photo of the valley.
It is meant to hang on a wall using either the horizontal or the vertical hanger (and a nail you provide). However, there is a removable walnut thing that allows the frame to sit on a desk, shelf, or other horizontal surface. It is removed by unscrewing the screws.
